The Tatra mountains is the only mountain range in central Europe
which has many characteristics for Alpine type of terrain.
They are situated on the border between Poland and Slovakia.
Tatras are the small part of the vast Carpatian mountain range
and their surface is only 795 km2.
The Tatra mountains are the oval strip with measurements
about 54 km x 18 km.
Gierlach(2655m) is the highest peak of the Tatra mountains.
